"¡
Qué mono !"
...
is the title of the Spanish show, mainly meant for people who
are studying Spanish. Real Spanjards have the habit of speaking
very rapidly, making them hard to understand for a foreign ear.
But Dirk uses a slower language... "¡Qué mono!"
has a double meaning. It means both "how cute" and "what
a monkey". It was a hint from Veerle Segers from Radio2.
The
show is based on translatable sketches and songs of Dirk's work
in other languages. But there
is also specific Spanish stuff: father and son Iglesias, a parody
on Hijo de la Luna, Juan Luis Guerra, etc... If you want to learn
more, send an e-mail to: info@dirkdenoyelle.com
As from your second year Spanish you should be able to get most
of the meaning of skecthes and songs.
Text
was translated by Dirk with the help of Alberto Arconada (yes,
his father-in-lawr) and Kristine Henderyckx, who teaches Spanish.
"The
Edgy Engineers"
Is
the name Dirk and Kris use for their shows in English and German.
These shows are never standard. After a briefing, they are tailor
made for your specific audience. The shows in Bucharest and Hanoi
were a very good example of the possibilities.

What does Dirk have with all these languages ?
Dirk
just likes to learn languages. Dutch is native, French, German
and English are taught at school. He also learned some ancient
Greek, but forgot most of that. When in his last year of secundary
school, he started learning Italian as a hobby. Later Italian
was replaced by Spanish, as he got engaged to a half-Spanish girl
(now still his wife) and he wanted to understand his father-in-law.
Honeymoon was in Greece, so he learned some modern Greek. He once
went to visit Russia at university, so he started learning some
Russian.
Around
2002 Dirk thought that all these bits and pieces were not good
enough. So in stead of studying a little harder, he decided to
integrate his language learning in his profession: perform in
foreign languages. And since then he is quite good at Danish (thank
you, Assimil),
German and Spanish. And Dutch, French and English, of curse. And
he has about all Assimil-courses at home, so plenty of more stuff
to come !
