Verjaardagsfeestje in CC't Aambeeld in Aartselaar
On October 2nd Dirk celebrated his 45th birthday. He did that in "'t Aambeeld", the theatre in Aartselaar. The collaboration with Nele Jacobs and her team was fantastic, by the way.
Dirk had built in many surprises into the show. New songs, new sketches (Schwarzenegger !). But also other people. Dirk's parents appeared on stage. Dirk's band with whom he had not played for ten years was back: Peter Kil (Drums), Jan Mangelschots (base), Chris De Winter (you name it), Jill Heyninck (singer) and Dirk De Smet (Sax).
Dirk's former manager, who himself has been a singer for like about 50 years now (!) came and sung an extremely well received song in the Antwerp dialect. His band is called "De Vaganten" and consists of Paul en Herwig "Vagant", Veerle Dierckx (violin) and the previously mentioned Chris De Winter.
Amazings was performed live by composer Kenny Clarys and singer Marie-Joëlle Vanderburgt. Pianist Kris De Jean, and sound engineers Joachim Verheyen and Johan Vigoureux sang a very funny parody on Dirk. And Dirk's daughters Laura en Yanaika ,assisted by their nieces Maite and Inez sang a slightly adapted version of "Africa" (Toto)
Thanks to everybody who was there, and to all of you who sent wishes. And if you understand Dutch: here's an article announcing the show !
